Track and Field, Cross Country Athletes Earn MWC Scholar Athlete Award

SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah track and field and cross country teams saw 15 athletes honored with the Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete Award.

The MWC Scholar-Athlete Award is the highest academic honor bestowed by the conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.

Honored from the track and field team were: Alyssa Abbott; Josefin Berg; Alexis Davis; Chelsea DiGrazia; Lauren Endersen; Shayla Houlihan; Lauren Lewis; Sarah McFee and Aimee Nay.

Cross country athletes honored by the MWC were: Abbott; Davis; DiGrazia; Endersen; Lewis and Becky Mackelprang.

Endersen was the only Utah athlete to maintain a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average.
